Our Doctors

Dr. Scott Barnard
I was born and raised in Ohio and received my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University in 1990. Upon graduation, I moved to North Carolina, where I practiced small animal medicine for 17 years - four of those years spent in emergency/ trauma medicine. I was also the treasurer for the North Carolina Academy of Small Animal Medicine from 1995-2006 and am a member of the AVMA.
My special interests include critical care, geriatric medicine, cardiology, dermatology, surgery, and small animal exotics (ferrets, rabbits, and small rodents). I believe that the key to proper veterinary care is compassion with an emphasis on offering state of the art veterinary medicine along with client education.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Carolyn, and we have four children: Zachary, Joshua, Jacob, and Rebecca. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time and doing outdoor activities with my family and our dogs.

Dr. Brigid Hirth
I was born in Michigan but spent most of my childhood and young adult years in Cleveland, OH. After obtaining my undergraduate degree, I moved to Columbus, OH for veterinary school at The Ohio State University. My career has brought me to several beautiful states over the years!
My husband and I landed in AZ in 2012 and, it was shortly after moving here that I found a home at Dobson. I’ve loved being a part of our vibrant work family and look forward to helping your families get the pet care you deserve. I enjoy many aspects of veterinary medicine but have special interests in geriatric medicine, pain management, and dermatology.
My husband and I have 2 children and 2 dogs that keep us busy, but in my free time, I’m an avid runner and beginner triathlete. If you happen to see me out cycling or running in our Dobson Ranch community, please stop and say hi!!

Dr. Allie Junig
I’m originally from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, so Arizona is quite a contrast, especially in the wintertime! Before attending veterinary school, I worked as an assistant for two years in a local practice. As a veterinarian, my specialties are preventative medicine, dermatology, and internal medicine. The best part of my job is providing client education and helping pets live long healthy lives. I share my home with my boyfriend, Micah, and our fur family of three cats (Rick, Tommy, Maggie) and a loving Pitbull named Maisie. Outside of work, I love reading, trying new restaurants, and traveling to new places whenever possible.

Dr. Casie McReynolds
I was born and raised in southern Illinois and attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana for my undergraduate and veterinary studies. After graduation, I ventured out of the Midwest, eager to escape the cold winters.
I found myself in beautiful Arizona and have enjoyed exploring the state ever since. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, reading, and being with family and friends.
I love all aspects of veterinary medicine, but I have a particular interest in surgery, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging. I’m particularly fond of the human-animal bond and therefore find assisting clients in making the best decisions for their pet truly rewarding. I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

Dr. Balmy Fang
I grew up in the East Valley, moving between Tempe, Gilbert, and Mesa. I attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut, graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in economics and psychology. Then, I returned to the Valley to take classes at Arizona State University before moving to Colorado, where I received my DVM from Colorado State University. In between, I spent 8 months living out of a backpack and traveling around the world.
Life back home in Mesa includes my yellow Labrador, Nala, and Dutch rabbit, Plumper. My interest is in all aspects of small animal medicine. I recently completed my certification in veterinary medical acupuncture and am excited to be able to offer this therapy to your pets. Feel free to ask me any questions!

Dr. Dylan Rubalcaba
I am an Arizona native, originally from Kearny, AZ. I studied at Northern Arizona University and graduated in 2015 with my undergraduate degree. I moved up north to attend Washington State University and graduated with my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2019.
I had exposure to veterinary medicine a while before receiving my DVM. I started as a volunteer at a humane society/veterinary clinic in Flagstaff, working my way up to the role of a veterinary technician. My specific interests include behavior, surgery, and general practice medicine.
I live with my girlfriend, who is an emergency veterinarian. Of course, we share our home with pets - a border collie named Zoe and a Lab-Husky mix, Elmo! Outside of the hospital, I enjoy all things outdoors, including road biking, paddleboarding, hiking, camping, and swimming.

Dr. Nikalette Gros
I was born and raised in West Bloomfield, MI, beginning my veterinary career as a kennel assistant at 16 years old. I stayed in the Midwest and attended Michigan State University for a bachelor’s degree in biomedical laboratory science. During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I held various positions in the veterinary field such as receptionist at a veterinary practice, veterinary assistant, and technician. Eager to move forward in my veterinary career, I made my way to Phoenix to study at Midwestern University and received my DVM in 2019. My specific passions in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, emergency, and client education.
I currently live with my husband, Adam, our cattle dog mix, Elly, and 2 cats, Charlie and Mo! I enjoy camping, soccer, and spending time with my pets and husband! I look forward to meeting your pet at your next visit!

Dr. Samantha Kelsey
I grew up in Cincinnati, OH and graduated from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 2014. I received my Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine from Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. My first exposure to working in a veterinary clinic was as a Veterinary Assistant while in undergrad. After coming to AZ for veterinary school, I worked as an assistant at an AZPetVet hospital and a technician at a local spay and neuter clinic. My professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dermatology. I love having the ability to create a bond with animals and their family members while giving them the best care possible as they grow.
At home I currently live with my boyfriend, Sean, my two cattle dog mixes, Rodgerick and Sybil, and my two cats, Snitch and Weasley. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, and spending time with my friends and family.

Dr. Sydney La Rue
I grew up in Dubuque, IA and earned my degree from Iowa State University in 2016. Before moving to Arizona, I worked at a small animal practice in Davenport, IA for 4 years. I have come to enjoy the puzzle of difficult cases in internal medicine and have an interest in radiology and ultrasound.
When I’m not caring for everyone's fur babies, I can usually be found with my head in a book, watching movies, or playing cards or video games. I’m an active swimmer and practice martial arts in my free time. I’m always up for trivia nights whether I know the topic or not. If you need a corny joke to brighten your day, I’m the person to see!
